Hotel Wisdom

Ask the hotel about parking options when booking. Knowing the nearest public car park or available spaces saves time on arrival, especially in summer.

Walk the Deux Caps trail between Cap Gris Nez and Cap Blanc Nez. The views across the Channel are spectacular, and the path is well marked. Wear sturdy shoes and windproof clothing.

Visit Nausicaá in Boulogne early in the day to avoid crowds. The aquarium is popular with families and school groups.

Try moules frites and fish soup in a Wimereux or Boulogne restaurant. Choose places near the harbour for the freshest seafood.

Enjoy a cheese and charcuterie board at the hotel bar in the evening. It is a relaxed way to end the day, since the hotel has no dinner service.

Carry layers and a raincoat. The Opal Coast is windy, and weather changes quickly.

Check ferry and Eurotunnel times if travelling from or to England. Calais is close, but queues can be long in peak periods.

Speak a few words of French. Some staff speak only French, and basic phrases make communication easier and friendlier.
