Transport Options

Lille Lesquin airport is about one hundred and ten kilometres away, around one and a half hours by car. Ostend Bruges airport in Belgium is a similar distance. Many visitors from the United Kingdom arrive by ferry or Eurotunnel instead of flying.

Calais, about forty minutes away, is the arrival point for ferries from Dover and for Eurotunnel's car shuttle from Folkestone. This makes Wimereux an easy first or last stop for British travellers. Calais Fréthun station also serves Eurostar trains.

Wimereux has a small railway station on the line between Boulogne and Calais, with regional TER trains. Boulogne sur Mer station connects with Lille, Amiens and Paris, with journeys to Paris taking around two and a half hours.

By car, the A16 motorway connects Wimereux with Calais, Dunkirk and the Belgian border to the north and with Paris to the south. Driving along the coastal road through the Deux Caps is slower but much more scenic.

Local buses link Wimereux with Boulogne and other coastal towns. In summer, shuttle services sometimes serve the capes.

Cycling routes along the coast connect Wimereux with Boulogne and Ambleteuse, offering a pleasant way to explore when the wind allows.

Taxis are available but should be booked in advance, especially in the evening.
